Temporary imports (Can work very well for expensive products)

If you import and export, you know that it is necessary to carry out many procedures and that these vary from country to country.  This can be very expensive if what you want, for example, is to send a piece from one country to another to repair something or if you want to showcase expensive equipment at an exhibition or show it to a buyer. This is where temporary imports come in. There are different permits for temporary imports, and we will discuss them in this article, the first is the IMMEX program. Manufacturing, Maquila, and Export Service Industry or IMMEX allows manufacturers to import raw materials and equipment into Mexico tax and tariff-free for a limited time (including the value-added tax, IVA). To be eligible for this benefit, the products must be temporarily imported and used in an industrial or service operation that is designed to manufacture, transform, or repair goods for export.  These short-term imports must eventually become part of a larger export. Sales comparison. Amazon Mexico vs. Amazon US

Global corporations like Amazon compete with themselves when it comes to sales at regionalized websites. Amazon.com is the company’s website since its inception in 1995 when it was one of the first e-commerce platforms focused on selling books.

Twenty-seven years later, Amazon is the largest e-commerce in the world, and it sells everything. The company’s mission is to sell everything from A to Z and that is why their logo has an arrow ranging from A to Z.

In this article, we will compare the sales of the main Amazon website to its Mexican counterpart.

Amazon started operations in Mexico in 2015 and it quickly became one of the customers’ favorites, that is because it has an enormous variety of products (Imported even) and promotions, in addition to very efficient customer service.

Let’s start by their global rank. Amazon.com ranks #12 among all the world's websites, while Amazon.com.mx is #398, this number is defined by monthly unique visitors.

While in the rank by industry, which is e-commerce and shopping/marketplace, Amazon.com is #4 and Amazon.com.mx is #43.

Overall, Amazon.com is the most visited website, but it has also been around longer. To give context, the monthly visits to Amazon.com are around 2.58 billion, while Amazon.com.mx has 87.6 million visits.

An interesting statistic is that people go directly to Amazon Websites instead of getting there through other marketing channels like e-mail, referrals, or advertising. These numbers tell us that people have brand awareness.

In terms of social traffic, which refers to people that get to a website through a social platform, YouTube is the website that generates the most traffic to both Amazon.com and Amazon.com.mx.

As to the gender of visitors, the statistics indicate that both men and women visit the websites in equal numbers and the predominant age group ranges between 25 and 34 years old.

Interestingly, Amazon.com users rarely visit Amazon.com.mx, but 20% of Amazon.com.mx visitors visit Amazon.com.

In conclusion, we can say that Amazon.com is a much better-positioned website but that is to be expected as it is the primary site of the company and the oldest around with a 27-year head start in creating brand awareness and building its audience.

However, it is interesting to see the difference between the first website and a regionalized one in one of the fastest-growing markets for e-commerce, Mexico.
